| Fees
Full scholarships are provided to all students for tuition and room and
board, but a non-refundable $150 registration fee is required upon acceptance. Tuition for this program is normally $2,500. A non-refundable application
fee of $55 must accompany all applications.
Dates and deadlines
The application deadline is March 1. All materials must be received in our office on that date (no exceptions).
Application requirements
The Colorado College Festival accepts applications for violin, viola,
cello, bass, flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, horn, trumpet, trombone,
and piano students.
Interested students should be pre-professional, advanced
students. Accepted students will range in age from high school senior
(minimum age) to students at the university and master's levels.
For your application to be considered, the Music Festival
will need the following:
(1) A letter of recommendation from your principal music instructor (may be sent or emailed directly to the festival office by your teacher/instructor)
(2) An audition CD or DVD (no mp3s, pianists MUST submit a DVD)
(3) Application fee: $55. All fees are payable in U.S. funds drawn on
a U.S. correspondent bank only. Foreign students should obtain an International
Money Order in U.S. dollars for the payment of fees. All checks must be
payable to the Colorado College Summer Music Festival. Apply online with visa or mastercard. Paper applications may also use discover and amex.
Your CD or DVD should be of high quality and no longer than fifteen minutes.
• String players should include two solo works
of contrasting styles, showing your technique and musicality, preferably
from different time periods. Accompaniment is preferred but not required. No excerpts are required.
• Pianists should include a movement of a chamber work (sonata, trio, quartet
etc.) performed within the last year and a solo work of contrasting style,
showing your technique and musicality, preferably from a different time
period. Please include a repertoire list of chamber works, including sonatas,
that you have studied and performed. No excerpts are required. A DVD is required. CDs will not be considered.
• Wind and brass players should include the orchestral
excerpts listed for your instrument as well as two works or movements
of contrasting styles, showing your technique and musicality, preferably
from different time periods. Your audition may be solo or accompanied,
whichever you feel best showcases your ability. Click on your instrument

Flute excerpts (Afternoon of a Faun: solo parts only)
The exposition of the 1st movement of either the Mozart G Major or D Major Concerto is recommended as one of the two works/movements in addition to the excerpts, but not required.
Oboe excerpts
Clarinet excerpts
The Debussy Premiere Rhapsodie and the exposition of the 1st movement of the Mozart Concerto are recommended as the two works in addition to the excerpts, but not required.
Bassoon excerpts
The Mozart Bassoon Concerto K. 191. Meas. 35-71 is recommended as one of the two works/movements in addition to the excerpts, but not required.
Horn excerpts
The exposition of the Mozart's 1st movement of Concerto No. 2 or No. 4 is recommended as one of the two works/movements in addition to the excerpts, but not required.
Trumpet excerpts

The Casterede Sonata is recommended as one of the two works/movements in addition to the excerpts, but not required.
Bass Trombone excerpts
The opening of the first mvt until the Allegro of the Ewazen Concerto is recommended as one of the two works in addition to the excerpts, but not required.
