A New Library

Tutt Library has been the center of academic life at Colorado College since its completion in 1962. But so much has changed in that time — the College adopted the Block Plan and unimagined technological advancements have revolutionized how information is gathered and shared. The current library no longer meets our community’s needs, and we must undertake a substantial renovation and expansion of the existing one.

The drawings below represent concept options. As significant funding becomes available, true design efforts will begin.

The library at Colorado College will be the college's true centerpiece — from both a symbolic and practical standpoint. It will be warm and inviting, with spaciousness and natural light.

It will serve the established collections and programs of Tutt Library, and enhance our capacity to provide new services and new technologies in the coming years. Study spaces will be integrated within the stacks, so that the printed word remains paramount.

The new library will have the flexibility to respond to the distinctive rhythms of the Block Plan, providing study seating for at least one third of our students at any given time.
