FEMINIST and GENDER STUDIES

The Shannon McGee Prize is available to juniors and seniors at
Colorado College. Applications are accepted by the Feminist and
Gender Studies Program beginning in March.

This prize was established in the memory of Shannon McGee, an exceptional CC graduate and Women’s Studies minor who died in 1990 as the result of an accident while a Watson scholar in the Middle East. It is awarded to a student for travel or participation in a conference, olitical or artistic program, or to assist research, where the purpose of the proposed activity is to enhance the student’s understanding of and commitment to women’s concerns.

Students need not be Feminist and Gender Studies majors or minors to apply, but must demonstrate their understanding of and commitment to women’s concerns. Proposals, 1 to 2 double-spaced pages in length, should include a budget that summarizes what the student
would do with the $300 - $500 available through the McGee Prize. They should also describe the applicant’s background in women’s issues and any qualifications necessary to the successful completion of the proposed project.

Please submit three copies of each of the following documents; transcript, proposal, and CV/resume. If you have recorded material. please submit 3 copies of this as well.

Proposals are due by the end of the second week of block 7 in the Feminist and Gender Studies office in the Interdisciplinary House, 1115 North Cascade. The prize will be awarded at the Honors Convocation held in block 8.
