Music at Colorado College

Welcome to the Colorado College Music Department website!  We will introduce you to the possibilities for performance and study of music at CC, and to the outstanding faculty who form our department.  You will learn about the wide variety of concerts by faculty, visiting artists, and students, and will be able to hear us make music.

Our eight full-time faculty members, including two professional performers, two composers, two ethnomusicologists and two music historians, provide students with training in performance, music theory, western and non-western music literature, and composition.  Our nine ensemble directors preside over a wide variety of performance opportunities, and our 32 instructors offer private lessons in instruments from the classical orchestra, the concert band, world music, bluegrass and jazz.

While there is a course of study for both music majors and minors, many of the 350 students who are active in the department do so only for their own pleasure.  We offer opportunities for all CC students to participate in making music.  If you are a prospective student, a current student, or a member of our audience, we hope that you find the information contained in these pages helpful.  If you have any questions, please contact us.  We’d be happy to hear from you.

                    Best Regards,
The faculty and staff of the music department at Colorado College
