The 1874 Society on FacebookAbout the 1874 Society

Over 1,500 generous alumni, parents, and friends from across the country and around the world have contributed to Colorado College’s 1874 Society since 2003 when it began. Many of these dedicated members demonstrate their commitment to the college each year by giving $1,874 or more in unrestricted funds.

CC is able to maintain its high level of education and support for students, faculty, and campus capital projects because of these investments. From new study abroad courses to lab supplies, the funds raised by the 1874 Society are applied where they are needed most to sustain the unique intellectual adventure the college offers its students.

The college recognizes members for their outstanding leadership by offering them exclusive events on campus and across the country. Chaired by Jacqueline Lundquist, wife of CC President Richard F. Celeste, the 1874 Society engages alumni, parents, and friends in a variety of enjoyable and meaningful ways such as elegant wine tastings, intimate dinners, private receptions, backstage tours, compelling performances, and stimulating lectures. The list of functions is endless and represents one of the hallmarks of membership. In addition, 1874 Society members stay connected to college news, events, and happenings through frequent contact with college faculty, staff, and students.

The 1874 Society is truly member-driven and individuals participate by:

  • providing a venue or an opportunity for an interesting event;
  • hosting small dinners or receptions for prospective members in their areas;
  • inviting others to join them as 1874 Society members;
  • giving feedback, ideas, and comments; and
  • letting the college know when they will be coming to campus!

Whether you are joining the 1874 Society for the first time or renewing your membership, your annual gift places you in a select group with those who share your commitment to Colorado College at a leadership level – and we thank you!
