Borrowing Policies for Community Borrowers

Who May Borrow

Colorado residents with a current public library card from a Colorado library, and students, faculty and staff with current identification cards from a Colorado educational institution may register as a Community Borrower.

Application Procedure

Applicants for library privileges must register at the circulation desk in Tutt Library or the Music Library in Packard Hall. It is necessary to fill out a registration card listing a permanent address, telephone number and e-mail address (if available). Library staff are available to assist persons with disabilities, upon request.

Applicants must also show a photo ID, and their public library card or college ID must be large enough (credit card size) for us to adhere a Colorado College library barcode (no keychain size ID’s will be accepted).

Borrowing privileges are valid for one year, and may be renewed as long as the individual has no overdue fines or replacement charges.

Loan Periods

A total of 3 items may be checked out.

Renewals

Two renewals are permitted for items that do not have a hold placed on them.

Overdue Books

Circulation privileges will be suspended if fines exceed $10. Privileges will be restored when account is cleared.

Replacement of Lost or Damaged Material

Those using library materials, whether in our out of the building, are responsible for the condition of the material while in their use, and for the timely return of the materials.

Please see library policy regarding replacement of lost or damaged material.

Holds and Recalls

Placing holds on materials is not available to Community Borrowers. Material is subject to recall if the current borrower has had it for more than two weeks. Items recalled for reserve or for classroom use must be returned immediately.

If an item is recalled it must be returned as soon as possible. Fines will accrue at $5.00 per day.
