Specialization: Dunham's specialties are American politics and environmental politics, and his research interests include national forests, wilderness, and fire.

Background: Dunham was a Congressional Fellow in 1983-84, where he served as legislative assistant to Senator Max Baucus and health advisor to Senator Gary Hart. He organized the "Public Policy" section for the annual meeting of the Western Political Science Association in 1993-94 and served from 1983 to 1993 on the editorial board of the Journal of Health Politics, Policy and Law.

Specialization: Gould's specialties are international political economy, Europe, and post-communist states. He has written editorials about how American foreign policy has been affected by the war.

Background: He is an adviser for the international political economy major at CC. Before joining the CC faculty in 2002, he held a number of prestigious fellowships, including the Robert Schuman Fellowship at the European University Institute in Florence, Italy, in the spring of 1998. He held a post-doctoral fellowship at the Graduate School of International Studies at the University of Denver during the 2001-2002 academic year.

Specialization: Hendrickson can speak about international relations and American foreign policy.

Background: At Colorado College since 1983, Hendrickson has written five books, one of which, "Empire of Liberty: The Statecraft of Thomas Jefferson," was nominated by Oxford University Press for a Pulitzer Prize in 1990. Hendrickson is an authority on American foreign policy, Thomas Jefferson, and international politics. He has published essays in a variety of foreign policy journals, including Foreign Affairs, The National Interest, Ethics and International Affairs, and World Policy Journal.

Specialization: Hochman can contribute on such issues as the justice of going to war (including preventive and preemptive war), and just ways of fighting wars. He can also speak about what happens to civil liberties in times of war, and relate the present situation to wars in the past.

Background: Hochman is himself a veteran of World War II. A member of the CC faculty since 1955 as well as ex-dean of the summer session, Hochman is an authority on the Supreme Court and Bill of Rights, American Constitutional tradition, and military interventions. He received his Ph.D. from Columbia University.

Specialization: Loevy can speak about the general topic of how a college campus and college students respond to war.

Background: At CC since 1968, Loevy is the author of "To End all Segregation: The Politics of the Passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964," "The Manipulated Path to the White House 1996," and "Colorado Politics and Government." Loevy participated in the 2000 Republican convention as the author of a new plan for primaries considered for adoption, and he was one of the chief architects of the Colorado primary first held in 1992.

Specialization: Showalter's expertise falls under the categories of operational analysis and military history; he also teaches a course on "Terrorism."

Background: He also regularly teaches courses on "The Holocaust," "Education in the West," "Europe from 1789 to 1848," "Europe from 1848 to 1914," "The Jews in Modern Europe," "War and Society since the Renaissance," and "Germany from 1715 to 1918: From the Rise of Prussia to the Fall of the Second Empire." He was mentioned in the acknowledgements for Kenneth M. Pollack's book, "Arabs at War," and has appeared in documentaries on the History Channel and Discovery. Showalter joined the CC faculty in 1969. He has also served as a distinguished visiting professor at the U.S. Air Force Academy and the Marine Corps University. He was awarded the 2005 Samuel Eliot Morison Prize by the Society for Military History. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota.
