Announcing Family Weekend

This year Colorado College will host a new venture – Family Weekend, from Friday, Oct. 4 to Sunday, Oct. 6.  Some may be familiar with CC’s formerly hosting Parents’ Weekend in conjunction with Homecoming, however, a dedicated Family Weekend now gives students an opportunity to invite their families to Colorado College to enjoy programming, share free time together, and experience student life on and off campus. It’s a great way for families to re-connect with their student and connect with the campus and surrounding areas in ways that are uniquely different than New Student Orientation and Homecoming.

CC anticipates approximately 300 participants, who will have the opportunity to experience everything from hiking and rock-climbing with the Outdoor Education staff to tours of the newly-renovated facilities (Slocum Hall, Adam F. Press Fitness Center), open houses in major residence halls, a student/faculty research luncheon highlighting several collaborations across the disciplines, developing a “Wandering Map” with the Career Center staff, hearing President Jill Tiefenthaler report on the Strategic Planning process, and a student showcase featuring student films, performances, and exhibits. Athletic events also are represented, including women’s soccer and volleyball and a men’s hockey game at the Colorado Springs World Arena.

Although the majority of the events are free, many do require advance registration; the deadline is Monday, Sept. 30.
