Student Research Highlighted at City-wide Forum

CC Joins Air Force Academy, UCCS in Showcasing Work

A record number of Colorado College students – 27 – will take part in the Colorado Springs Undergraduate Research Forum on Saturday, April 12, at the Air Force Academy.

The students will present research papers, posters, and performances at the forum, which was established several years ago by Colorado College, the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, and the Air Force Academy to support undergraduate research and provide an opportunity for students to present their research in an academic conference-like setting.

All three divisions of the school – humanities, social science, and natural science – are represented by the students this year, said Estéban Gomez, assistant professor of anthropology and chair of the Colorado College committee that supports the forum, known as CSURF.  In previous years, 12 to 18 students have represented CC at the forum.

In addition to the Colorado College students, 62 students from University of Colorado at Colorado Springs and 137 from the Air Force Academy are signed up for the event.

Also on the CC committee for the event are Assistant Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry Amy Dounay and Assistant Professor of Film and New Media Studies Scott Krzych.
