Opening Convocation

On the first day of Block 1, the college holds an academic assembly in Shove Chapel, at which an address is given and honorary degrees are awarded to alumni who exemplify the successful application of their liberal arts education. This year, Opening Convocation will be held Monday August 31, 2009 at 9 a.m.

Homecoming and Parents Weekend

Each fall, one weekend is set aside for traditional Homecoming events, including class and other special reunions, presentation of a variety of alumni awards, faculty discussions and athletics events. Parents and alumni are welcomed back to campus during this time, and students participate by attending the all-campus picnic, the Homecoming dance, and other events organized by the Student Alumni Association. This year, Homecoming will be October 9-11.

Honors Convocation

On the third Tuesday of Block 8, the college holds an academic assembly in Shove Chapel. Honors granted include departmental awards to outstanding students, all-college awards, and faculty achievement awards for outstanding teaching and research.  This year, Honors Convocation will be held Tuesday May 4.
