Olin Hall won the Distinguished Design Award in the 1963 Texas Architectural Competition. The building is divided into class-lab areas for biology, chemistry, and physics and an adjacent study area, commonly known as the "fishbowl." There is a lecture hall underneath the "fishbowl" that seats 250 people and is usually packed during film series and other special events. The building was named after the F.W. Olin Foundation, the major donor for the science facility.
