91.5 KRCC Nets Two Awards of Excellence

Colorado College’s NPR-member station, 91.5 KRCC, won two 2016 Awards of Excellence from the Colorado Broadcasters Association on March 11.

The station took first place in the “Best News Coverage of a Single Event” category with its coverage of the Colorado Springs/Broadmoor land exchange, titled “The Case of Strawberry Fields.” Multiple stories included feature reporting from Jake Brownell ’12, a special “Wish We Were Here” episode, work from student reporters Holly Pretsky ’16, Tucker Hampson ’16, and Dana Cronin ’17, and more.

91.5 KRCC also took first place in the public radio-specific category of “Best Mini-Documentary or Series” for “Wish We Were Here, Episode 12: Avalanche on America’s Mountain.” The episode told a fascinating story that included interviews with Dan Crossey ’74 of CC’s Facilities Services.
