Can I take required courses at a community college or online?
Most medical, dental, and vet schools prefer that the required courses come from a 4-year institution. It varies from school to school regarding online and community college courses. The student will need to check with the school of interest for specifics.
I heard that schools do background checks as part of the admissions process. Do I need to disclose everything?
Yes, it is very important to disclose any information that may be pulled up in a background check. It's also important to check with Student Life about any infractions you may have received as a student. For more information on your conduct history, contact Senior Assistant Dean of Students Cesar Cervantes.
Do I have to major in biology or chemistry to apply to med, vet, or dental school?
No! In fact, many medical schools prefer non-science majors, as this exhibits a well-rounded understanding of many curricular areas.
